Hotel & Resort Reviews: Cancún & Cozumel
Iberostar Paraiso Beach Resort - Mexican Riviera 12/12/02
Reviewers Rating: Excellent
I would recommend this resort to anyone looking at staying on the Mayan Riviera (30 min south of Cancun). There are actually 2 hotels right together (the Del Mar and the Beach Resorts). These two establishments share the same pool (which is HUGE, about a half-mile, absolutely gorgeous), beach, restaurants and theatre. They each have their own main lobby. The food was excellent. They have 6 speciality restaurants along with 2 buffets. We ate at the Japanese Restaurant (VERY Good), the tropical restaurant (okay), and the steak house (VERY good). We liked the buffet too. There was anything you could ask for! So we didn't mind eating at the buffet. 2 of the speciality restaurants are down by the beach, and serve buffet style breackfast and lunch during the day. Now the pool, I just have to mention that again, because it was so AWESOME. 3 swim-up bars, a waterfall, jets, fountains... The beach wasn't bad either. Also, the hotels were full when we went (11/30/02 through 12/7/02) and we never had a problem finding a chair by the pool or beach. There are always events going on during the day here, so if you wanted to get involved in stuff, you were never bored. My husband and I were just into the relaxing, drinking and eating! This resort is very big, but there is a tram that runs. My husband and I loved the walking; so that was a plus for us. They are actually building on to this resort. When all is said and done, we were told there will be a total of 5 resorts. They will have another pool as well; and I'm sure more restaurants and such. There is much to do here too, on or off the resort. My husband and I went on two excursions off the resort snorkeling in Maroma, visited the Tulum ruins and to Xel Ha (a natural water park- VERY fun!). The room was VERY clean and the maid left us little towel animals on our bed a few times; very nice. The room had a mini bar that was stocked every day with water, soda and beer (I believe the beer was every other day though). The mini bar is included in the all-inclusive package. Most rooms though, aren't beach front, they look over the pool or lush gardens, very beautiful. We didn't mind. How often are you in your room anyway, right. They kept the landscape up everyday, they defnitely take pride in this!! The resort has wildlife animals on the resort too, parrots, peacocks, swans, flamingos and more. They were very friendly too. The staff was very accomodating and friendly. We enjoyed every minute. And for the couple times we could stay up, they have nightly shows and movies at the theatre (with popcorn for a snack). Also, this resort has some kind of food available 24 hours; for those of you who need a 3a snack! Well, I could go on and on about how great this resort was. We did not have a bad experience (except for when I drank a little too much tequila; which was my own fault!). So I would actually, out of 4 stars, give this resort 5 stars!!
