We stayed at the Bahia Principe Akumal from Nov. 24 to Dec.8, 2002. We had the time of our lives. This resort exceeded all our expectations, and our expectations were high as I had heard nothing but good things. First of all the buildings are beautiful to look at. A series of villas three stories six rooms each floor. We had villa 48, I emailed and requested 47 or 48 so I was very happy. We had a lovely view of the ocean and were close to everything, the perfect location. The beach is awesome, white sand, not rocky, blue blue water clear and clean. Lots of chairs and Palapas, great snorkelling right off the beach. You couldn't ask for a nicer beach. Pools, just as wonderful. Plenty of chairs, palapas not crowded even with hotel at full capacity. 90% Canadian, a few Brits, French, but we Canadians really outnumbered everyone else. Rooms were junior suites, lovely and spacious, king bed, marble everywhere. Maids were wonderful, a different towel sculpture every day. The whole resort extremely clean. Never saw a speck of dirt anywhere or a blade of grass out of place. Staff was all extremely accomodating and friendly. Food was out of this world. Buffet lots of choices and very well done. Alacarte restaurants very well done too. Our favourite was the Arlequin, not as crazy about the Italian and Seafood restaurants. We ate at the Arlequin three times, it was wonderful. All in all I can't say enough about this wonderful resort. We had the best holiday ever and we will definitely be back next year!
