Cancun & Cozumel Hotel, Resort & Villa Reviews
Riu Cancun 10/08/2003
Reviewers Rating: Excellent
The wife and I, along with another couple, spent 4 nights at the Riu Cancun from Oct 2 - 6th. We had a great time. Still brand new, the staff kept this place immaculate. We never saw a bug or dirt or anything. Facility top notch, 4 stars. The only things keeping it from five stars was that the soap, shampoo, etc. was in plastic/paper tear off containers instead of little bottles, we left a note (and tip) to get another pillow but all we got was a swan towell creation. We had a suite, with corner, wrap-around deck, but only one chair. They even delivered a bottle of champagne two different days! Nice touch! The food was wonderful. The two buffet restaurants had a wide assortment. The Corizon, gaucho steak restaurant, had great meat but the presentation was a little strange, they came with steak, filet, pork and chicken in rapid succession which left little time to savor and enjoy....but it was good! The beach was super. Slight wave action, my wife was able to float on a blow-up raft with no problem. They rake the seaweed every morning so it was very clean during the day. Bring water shoes since there are some rocks to contend with. We were divers and were very impressed with the dive shop on premises, Scuba Caribe, especially Alfredo, the divemaster. The first day we tried Solo Bucea, down the beach but it was very unpersonal. Alfredo was great, pointed out all of the special things that made the dive great. Only had four divers total at a time. Currently the price is right at Riu Cancun. We've been to several Sandals and Riu resorts and for the price the Riu Cancun is absolutely the best value we have ever come across. We will definatly go there again!
