Cancun & Cozumel Hotel, Resort & Villa Reviews
Allegro Cozumel 02/06/2004
Reviewers Rating: Excellent
Just returned from Allegro Cozumel and was greatly impressed. The resort was clean and the grounds were well groomed. The room seemed small because we had a king size bed, however, we were not in the room very much. Don't be surprised to see several iguanas on the grounds. You'll also see many, many gekos. The beach was spectacular. Very clean and the water was so clear that you could see the fish swimming around your legs. Were always able to find lounge chairs on the beach, but if you wanted shade you had to get there early and save a spot. The 2 pools were equally clean. (One for activities and the other for relaxation) The staff was super friendly and for the most part could communicate in English. The food was fine. We had no problems with finding something that we liked. The omelettes at the Buffet restaurant were fantastic. Did not try the Italian restaurant, but the Mexican one was wonderful. A truly Mexican atmosphere (music, decor) added to the dining experience. The nightly entertainment was OK. The shows were amusing and the sports bar kept us busy playing pool and pingpong. If you want to dance, you'll have to go to town for that. We were told that Tues, Wed and Thurs were not the best days to go into town because there could be up to 8 cruise ships in port on those days. Shopping in town is OK, but shops on the main strip not willing to barder. Still found some good deal. Mr. Sanchos (market up from resort) is no better either. Prices still high. Would recommend renting a car for the day and touring the island. The little shops along the roadway have the best deals. One last thing, even those this is an all-inclusive, we would tip regularly. We rarely had to wait in line at the bar, as the server knew what we liked, and besides, they only make about $3.50/day. We would highly recommend this resort whether travelling as a family with small kids or as a couple.
