This was our third visit and it was excellent. We arrived Sept. 4 and stayed until the 11th. The weather was great and very hot at this time of year. I do prefer the spring which has more comfortable weather.
Mosquitos--some but not bad.
Grounds--perfect as usual.
Pools--warm and beautiful.
Drinks--Great!
Beach are the best on the coast.
Food--Excellent
Staff--fabulous (tipping doesn't make a difference but you should tip them they work hard for next to nothing).
Rooms--safe. The airconditioning and bar fridge all worked great. Rooms have coffee makers, robes,scales,shampoo,body lotion. We had more then enough towels and face cloths. We even got champagne and fruit basket on arrival for return visitors.
We took our kids for the first time and they didn't want to leave.
All the other people who came with us loved Barcelo Maya and said they would return. They all said the food quality and selection was outstanding.
Barcelo is one of the nicest resorts in the area for the money you pay. If you want a high class resort pay the $1000 extra each and go to a Sandles or RoyalHideway.
Don't let bad reviews stop you from going to this resort as you will be missing out. Some of the complaints seem to be from very picky people who just can't be pleased.
We will return again and highly recommend Barcelo Maya. Go and enjoy it! Pam Ontario Canada
