Cancun & Cozumel Hotel, Resort & Villa Reviews Reviews
Copacabana 06/2001 03/17/2004
Reviewers Rating: Excellent
My boyfriend and I decided to go to the Mayan Riviera after we graduated from college. We chose this hotel because the travel agent mentioned that this area along the caribbean was absolutely beautiful and is a great place to go to relax. He sure was right!
Arrival:
Everything is already organized when you arrive. When you leave the airport, there are buses waiting to take you to the resort. When we arrived, we received very prompt service & our bags were immediately brought to our room.
The Resort:
I would describe it as a lush tropical garden. Between the various buildings is a beautiful cobblestone pathway. They play soft music & you can even take pictures of lizards & other animals in the gardens!
Cleanliness:
This resort is absolutely beautiful!! There is a beautiful fountain in the lobby, very open & clean, fresh flowers everywhere. Maid service was prompt. Always be sure to tip because then they will go the extra mile such as flower petals on the bed, towel arrangements into swans etc.
Room:
Fair sized room, but has all the extras...fridge, large shower desk etc. Fresh water & drinks etc were replenished every day.
Food:
Food was excellent, but as in any all inclusive, you get a bit tired of it after 2 weeks. There were 3 a la carte restaurants, so it was nice to go to them for a change. I am not a huge fan of buffets, reminds me of a heard of cattle. The a la carte is more like fine dining. I am a very picky eater, but there was always something for me to have. They always had fresh fruit, salads & other healthy alternatives available.
Activities:
We met a couple the 2nd day we were there, so we ended up doing all the activities with them the first week. The day trips are a MUST. Tuulum is fabulous, always hire a guide. We did the snorkeling tour, where you even got to cliff dive..so much fun! Also did the ATV tour. At the resort we pretty much relaxed by the pool. It was quite windy when we were there so they wouldn't let people boogie board. Instead I did the water aerobics & went to the spa...the massages were EXCELLENT! Together, we did the salsa lessons a few times & used the outdoor gym facilities. Another trip we did was take a cab into Playa Del Carmen to shop. There are great deals if you go on the side streets & don't go on Wednesdays as that are when the cruise ships come into Cozumel so they jack up the prices.
Entertainment
Shows at the resort were great. No show that we went to was bad. All the staff is very nice & try to make you feel at home. Truly the qualities of a 5* resort.
Overall I would recommend this resort to anybody. I've been to Florida, the Bahamas, & Puerto Vallarta & this location tops them all. The scenery is breathtaking & the location couldn't be more romantic. It truly is more of a couples resort. Not too many kids, which was nice. We can't wait to go back, but we think we'll say somewhere different just for a little more variety. But for first timers to this area, the Copacabana is definitely a great place to go.
