El Cozumeleno Beach Resort

El Cozumeleno was wonderful!! I have to agree with the other positive reviews. The staff were wonderful and the rooms were great. I do have to say, however, that I was put in a room on the re-modeled side of the hotel. I can't speak for the other. Anyway- I went in August 03 and am going back in November 04. I have been to Cancun and like Cozumel so much better!! The nightlife is much more relaxed so if you want the super night clubs, this is not the place for you. The Cozumeleno had great activities and a wonderful pool. I can't say enough about it. The only complaint is the food. It was comparable to what I had in Cancun- not bad, but not great. If you like burgers and buffets- it's fine.
By the way- I forgot to mention that the Costa Real, like everywhere else in Cozumel, has a huge mosquito problem. Bring sun block!! From what I understand, the island is protected so they have to be particular about spraying pesticides. The mosquitoes hide under the tables in the open air restaurants. I had 63 bites between breakfast and my trips to see the ruins!!
