Xpu-ha Palace 02/22/2005

Myself, 6 year old son and wife stayed at this resort from 10 Jan 05 until 17 Jan 05. It is located approximately 25 minutes south of Playa del Carmen. Playa is easily accesible by local buses at a fraction of the cost of taxis.
The rooms were excellent and the decks on each room were the largest I have seen in the Caribbean. The jacuzzi in each room was a real treat.
The clusters of hotels are set amid a mangrove swamp (and abundant wildlife). The onsite snorkeling lagoon was tremendous; the beach sandy and clean. This is a resort that requires some walking but bikes are available. The eco theme works well and is not overly contrived. Since excursions to Chichen Itza and Tulum were included in the price this was an excellent value!
The staff were very friendly and polite and the food was first rate in all restuarants. Drinks were at times a little thin but the Cerveza was cold and available. Would not hesitate to return and would recommend this for families. This is not a party place as would be found in Cancun.
