Excellent
Just got back from the Iberostar Tucan- in my opinion the hotel does everything possible to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable.The beach and pool are both excellent. Both are maintained very well- the beach is raked and cleaned every night.
The food is plentiful, easily available, and good. The two nights of 'reservation required' meals were excellent. The buffets are good hotel buffets, with a lot of variety. The beach cabana restaurants are great, if for no other reason than their location. One of the bars has ice cream all day long- what else could you want?!?!
I was impressed by the service, and cooperation of all hotel employees- they really do want to make your stay enjoyable. The nightly shows were also fairly entertaining- especially after being active all day. Oh- their activities were also great- waterpolo, ping pong, shooting (air rifle), bicycle tour to Playa del Carmen. They had plenty more, but those are the things I wanted to do.
There were some negatives also, and I will list those- but the positives far, far, far outweight any minor negatives.
Negatives: bees all over the drink machine at the beach bar. Some nights they did not have the A/C on at the show. There is a sharp tile in the 'activity pool'- I know, I sliced my foot on it!
All in all, the Iberostar complex in Playacar is excellent- great facilities, and excellent staff.
