8 of us were here in Feb. 2001 and all agree that we would be pleased to go back. We rated it 3 stars. Don't be concerned about the 1.5 hr. bus trip from the airport, great Volvo buses, great guide on board (Jake), beer is $1 US. The staff was very helpful, checkin and checkout were very quick and hassle-free. The rooms were clean and the beds comfortable. Sometimes the water could have been hotter. The grounds were very nice and well maintained. The bars were plentiful although at times (like during the nightly entertainment) the mainbar was so busy that the level of service slipped. The entertainment was first rate, special mention to the Twin Singers. The beach was gorgeous. Great for snorkelling. Special mention to the beach bar where the afternoon snacks and the staff could not have been better. Food was plentiful and good but there are no a la carte restaurants. Lots to do in the area. You are very close to Santa Lucia and the local festival was on when we were there ... amazing. Take a moped to the end of the rode to a 24 hr. beach restaurant and have the lobster ... incredible ($10 US). The local catamaran tour is a must ($60 US) (Review originally submitted on March 20, 2001)
