Super Clubs Breezes Costa Verde 04/17/02

I was somewhat disappointed by my stay at this resort. To begin with we had a large amount of cockroaches in our room. We asked if this was normal and were told that it was not. It took three days of asking very nicely repeatedly before they changed our room. (for 2 days they said they would spray but did not). It was only after we sheepishly talked to the World of Vacation rep that something was done about it. As a single person, do not believe that this resort is great for singles unless your only interest is sunbathing. The disco is generally empty shortly after midnight and there is really no nightlife at all. (this could just have been the week we went tho) The kids do not stay at the kids pool. They are predominantly at the main pool close to their parents. Fine for families. Not for singles. Also, all pamphlets and our agent said that tipping was not allowed. They reitereated please do not do it. From attending other resorts I know that a tip to your favorites at the end still happens. What I didn't bargain for was the overabundance of tipping that was happening. In fact, I found that until I started tipping I was ignored in full by many of the female waitresses. Once I started tipping things improved. I just wish we had been told this up front instead of the opposite. The resort is beautiful otherwise. The food at the restaurants is excellent (especially the Japanese one). The normal buffet isn't great but isn't terrible either once you find your way around. We were told by other guests that this resort had the best food of the resorts in Cuba. Drinks were great. Weather was fantastic. Pool is great. Beach is a little rocky. Cleaning people were great. Entertainment people were superfriendly but I would have liked to see a few more activities. There are only so many salsa and spanish lessons you can take before you get bored. I admit that after spending a week at a Super Clubs in Jamaica, this one just didn't seem to measure up to the great experience I had there. Families there told me they were having a great week as did people who were at a resort for the first time. Other singles found it not so great. Hope this helps... Anne
