Beaches Varadero vs Breezes 07/09/02
Reviewers Rating: Great
This is the fourth time I've been to Cuba. Previously I've stayed at the Breezes Varadero & Breezes Costa Verde. Beaches resort is slightly more upscale than the Superclubs. Mainly the gym and buffet dining room were air conditioned (not AC at Breezes Varadero). The pool was beautiful and I spent half the trip floating around in it. The pool also had a pretty good sound system but they played almost all latin music. Beaches crowd were mostly couples in their 20's & 30's. Varadero beach is a white sand beach with no rocks or coral out at least 200 feet (it is also very shallow) Beaches food included more seafood and expensive ingredients than the other resorts but I don' t think the cooks were quite as good. The three restaurants did not come close to matching the high quality of those at the Superclubs resorts esp the Italian at Breezes Varadero and the Japanese at Breezes Costa Verde. All resorts had good drinks but could use fresh fresh fruit mixes. Rooms were nice, but furniture was slightly cheap in construction. The best rooms were at Breezes Holguin with two large picture windows.
