Solymar Resort 07/22/02

Hello all. My husband and I spent two weeks at Solymar in February of this year. To be perfectly honest, we had a most awesome time. We were right beside the notorious generator and, yes it was noisy, if you were there. However, if you were at dinner and then went for a few drinks, it was off before you got home. Not that we stayed out late by any means. >> >>Every day we would go down to the beach and play bocchi ball and volleyball for a couple of hours. Yes, it was damn hot!! Then we would swim to cool off. No one offered us drugs or otherwise. I had to trek down the beach to finally find the t-shirt girl. The entertainment gang was great. Their biggest beef was finding enough people to play with them. >> >>The food. I have heard so many people comlaining about the food. I am a great family cook and although there were things I did not like, for the most part the food was great. What a variety of veggies! We talked to people from other resorts and I could not believe how poor the vegetable selection was at theirs! The salads were awesome and there was always some type of meat that was to my liking. Let's face it, how many people have a choice of fish, chicken, pork, beef, lamb or seafood for their dinner. I find it hard to believe that people could not find something tasty to eat. The service was I guess how you made it. Yes, it is all inclusive and tips are included but let's face it...it doesn't hurt to tip. We had the most wonderful service. When the girls at the bar saw us coming in the morning they had our coffee and tea ready for us. Even down to the ice cube I liked in my cup of tea because it was too hot of water. The rest of the waiters were the same, always looking for us and making us feel like royalty. One of the waiters used to put a reserved sign on the table he decided was ours and waited for us every night. How cool. :) Anyhow, didn't mean to drone on for so long but just wanted to put in a review that said, yes..we had a wonderful time and would go back there again in a moment.
