This is a beautiful resort in many ways. The beach is gorgeous, the rooms are well appointed, the staff is very nice. HOWEVER, the food and the drinks are terrible. My husband and I arrived on a Sunday night and we were both locked in our room, sick as dogs, by Tueday afternoon. Thankfully we had a suite with 2 bathrooms so we didn't have to fight for the facilities. We were very disappointed, and unfortunately, we spoke with other people who had similar experiences. I realise that the food is going to be different in other countries, but I think you would really need an iron clad stomach to manage this place for the whole week. We actually lost weight. To all the staff at the Barcelo (other than the cooks!), I apologise, because you do a great job. But in good conscience, I could not recommend this resort. Thank you.
