Riu Las Morlas 10/05/02

I went to Varadero CUba and stayed in Riu Las Morlas during august 2002. I just wanted to say that it was absolutly beautiful, the hotel is located on the most amazing beach with white sand and clear water. Before we left to Cuba we were afraid that it would be raining the whole time because we went during hurricane season but the two weeks we spent there it only rained once, and when it did it was refreshing and nice to experience a semi tropical storm. The entertainment crew was very friendly and lots of fun, they tried to include every visitor in some sort of game, the entertainment its self was decent, they did a lot with the little they had. The nightly shows were funny and entertaining, but it wasnt top notch entertainment, you cant go to a developing country with high expectations, but like i said before they did amazing things with what they had. It was very impressive. This is a great hotel if u have children, there are so many activites available for them!! I also wanted to mention that when we went there, there was a scuba diver who gave lessons in the hotel swimming pool for free (all inclusive) and i was really excited to find that out because none of the brochures ever mentioned scuba diving as part of the hotel!! We went to Cuba expecting to eat horribale food from all the things we heard before we left, from ppl who had gone to cuba before, but the food in this hotel was pretty good, they had a huge variety, and even though some of the food lacked spices it was definetly edible! And the drinks at the bars were so great!! the bartenders are extremly friendly and will make u anything you can think of!!! The rooms were not spectacular, we tried to spend as little time in ours as possible, because we heard some visitors saying they found coakroaches in the bathroom, and eventhough we didnt have that problem, we were kind of freaked out of the chance of seeing a coakroach. the great thing about the rooms was that they were air conditioned, and the air conditioning was so good that it would even feel cold at some points!! this was definetly a bonus after a long day in the sun! I would go back with out a second thought, it may not have been the nicest hotel in the area, but it was fun, safe and beautiful!!!
