Reviewers Rating: Excellent
We, a couple from Toronto, recently had our first resort experience at this resort and absolutely loved it. We were astounded by how great the food was, especially because we had visited Havana last year and made a note of how "fine" Cuban cuisine was not. We are seafood lovers, and therefore ate like royalty -- mussels, shrimp, lobster, crab, delicious grouper, etc. As I have quite a few vegetarian friends, I also noted that they would be pleased with the salads and veggie dishes, such as interesting-looking chick pea dishes (we noticed them on our way to the crab). Best of all, the buffet was always refreshed, so you don't have to worry about getting there early. The food was the great surprise of the trip, but not the best part of it, to be sure. The room was quaint and clean, the staff very friendly and most polite. The entertainment was great on Latin night, middling in content -- but done with great talent and verve -- on other nights. The beach was a dream of white sand and tourquoise water. How can we praise it enough? It was paradise. We took the day trip snorkelling by Playa Pillar (which beach, by the by, is even more heavenly than the resort's, if possible); the snorkelling was thrilling. Such beautiful, exotic fish, such colourful plants we had never seen before in person (in fish?). And, at the risk of appearing obsessed, let us also mention that the included grilled lobster lunch was delicious. We could say more, all praiseful, but our predecessors in this reviewing process did a great job of spelling out the details. In conclusion, we highly recommend this resort. Please go. It's the best deal in town and it is truly wonderful. And say "hi" to Roberto-of-the-mopeds for us. Toronto, ON
