Las Brisas Guardalavaca 04/21/2003

I just returned from this resort on April 18. It was my first time ever going away and it was wonderful! Our plane was 2 1/2 hours delayed because of an electrical problem, it was a really rough flight, especially it being my first flight! We actually found out later that the plane broke down right after we landed in Holquin and was not flown home to Canada for 4 days.
Hotel: We stayed in the hotel, the Villa's did look great but, we were content at the Hotel, more is going on at the hotel. We had an ocean veiw room on the second floor, our :ocean veiw was not the best (it was blocked by a bunch of pom trees) but, it was private and we did not feel like we needed to change. The shower pressure was very good, almost too good if you get sun burned! The bed was alright it could have been better, we had a King Size. The room was pretty standard, but still very nice. The Balcony is great!When we were in our room we spent most of our time out there, very private. Our maid was amazing! Her Swans were beautiful that she made out of towels on our bed everyday, she cleaned our room very well every day.
Food: We ate both at the Hotel and the Villa, more so at the Hotel, not because it was any better just because it was closer. We, had a little bit of a hard time with the food. It was not the best, there pasta was good though i seemed to have stuck with that for the most part. Jeff really enjoyed the hot dogs at the grill bar outside by the pool their french fries were good and so was the pizza!
Pool: It was excellant!!! I loved it we spent most of our time here, a lot more at the pool bar with Jose!! HOOCHIE COOCHIE!! (have one it is a drink they are great)We did not spend anytime at the villa pool, i liked the surroundings of the hotel better.
Beach: We walked down to the public beach, it was nice. Our private beach was beautiful, we only really spent one day at the beach. The water is really nice.We had a massage on the beach! It was amazing we definately reccommend it!! 12us and it is worth it!
Entertainment: Very good! The water ballet was nice, and the house band is alright, I hear the old one used to be better. We really did not like the disco, it was like a Junior High Dance, it was more for young people like 12-16 years old.
Staff: The staff are the kindest people I ever met, you would never get the service you get there at home in Halifax! They really worked hard. You would see the same faces early in the morning and then that night! Jose at the swim up bar at the hotel was excellant and Yolaine our maid was so good at her job and was always smiling they are all very special.
All in all i am going to mis this place so much!It was so pretty and the people were amazing. Jeff and I were glad that we chose brisas for our very first vacation as a young couple at 22 years old. It will always be held very dear to us. And we made a promise that no matter how many vacations we take we will definately go back there someday.
