Wow, we have just returned from 2 weeks at the Playa Pesquero Hotel and it was beautiful, all the problems that this hotel was experiencing in the beginning have long gone now. Like many others we had read all the reviews
before we went and we were a bit sceptical about this hotel but for all of you reading this there is no need to worry, you will have a fantastic holiday. We certainly did and we will definitely go back.
We were made to feel welcome from the first moment we stepped into the hotel, with welcome drinks and a welcome dance from the staff, our check in was swift and we were soon taken to our room by the porters (They all drive
round in golf buggies so you have no need to walk anywhere if you don't want to). The rooms are large, clean and immaculate.
I will just say that this hotel is big and it can take a few days to get your bearings.
The food was better than other all inclusive resorts we have been to in the Caribbean and was varied. We are both vegetarians and thought the food might be
quite limited for us but we found a good selection and in some of the a'la carte restaurants if you can't find anything to eat they will make you something special. We met some other people whilst out there (not Vegeterians) and they agreed with our comments
We ate at all of the restaurants apart from the Cuban as we hadn't heard very good things about this but I think it just depended on
what night you went so don't be too put off. The Romantico was our favourite restaurant and it was air conditioned and the food, and service was fabulous.
Another good thing about this hotel is they also offer all branded drinks as well as local brands, so if you like Jack Daniel's, Baileys, Smirnoff etc
they are all available just ask for them at the Lobby Bar.
The entertainment/activities are ok but as the hotel is still quite new they are trying to get a schedule together, during the day they have Volley Ball,
Aerobics, Archery, Kayaking etc but you need to go looking for it as we didn't find it very well publicised. They also have Tennis Courts, Gym, non motorised watersports so you won't be bored.
I would also recommend the Back Massages, $10 for 30 mins, they were fabulous.
The resort is very clean and being constantly maintained by various members of staff, the Cuban's are very hospitable people and make you feel very
welcome. The pool is the biggest in Cuba and it is amazing, the beach is also stunning but be careful as it can be a bit shingley in places. The sea
is very clear, warm and calm, there are so many fish as well it is a great place to go snorkelling.
A couple of things to look out for are the Cocktail bar by the beer garden, it is relatively quiet but makes the best drinks in the whole complex. Also try to speak a little Spanish (even if it is just hola and adios) as it makes them warm to you even more and they take the time to try and teach you more of their language if you are interested (after a couple of drinks you may feel you speak it fluently!)
We are sure that you will all have a fabulous time and just relax and enjoy yourselves, I know we did and we would do it all again tomorrow if we could.
