Blau Colonial, Cayo Coco 04/24/2006
Reviewers Rating: Excellent
Went to the Blau Colonial, Cayo Coco Cuba Apr 15-22/06 Had a great time at this resort, can't wait to go back. Check-in was quick, we were in room 1510. Nice Room, near Yarey Grill and pool. Was very close to the beach as well. We had a renovated room, which was supposed to include being stocked with beer and pop in our room - which didn't happen, but we didn't even bother to complain about this. We were so close to Yarey and not really that far of a walk to the main courtyard it was easy to get a drink when needed. Food was actually good, we had been to the Tryp in 2002 (when this was part of the Tryp property) and found the food better than our last visit. Buffet had good variety, pasta bar at the buffet was great. The restaurants were good too. Yarey was great for lunch, they had pizza, hamburgers and some sandwiches. If this is your first visit - take along a insulated travel mug for your drinks - they give small plastic cups, it will save you many trips to the bar and the staff do not mind filling them up. Speaking of staff, they were so friendly, there was not one staff member that didn't greet you with a smile and say Hello. It may be part of their job to be pleasant, but they do it with such sincerity. The beach here is great, most days found a spot with shade. We had awesome weather too - not one day of rain! We only did one excursion - the glass bottom boat, which is $20/pp (but they only charged $10 for my 9yr old, and my 2 year old was free). They take you out to the coral reef and you can swim/snorkel for appx 1hr. I would definitely recommend this resort.
