What can I say about Jibacoa other than it is the best. I have been to this resort 4 times and have just booked my 5th trip back and can not wait to share it with my boyfriend. You will find on a visit to this resort that a number of the people are repeat visitors and that makes it all that more special...we all feel the same way about Jibacoa.
I have been to Cayo Coca, Vardero and Holguin but my heart belongs in Jibacoa. WHY? The people. They are so friendly, make you feel like family, always with a warm HOLA, wave and a smile. Every year they remember who you are and that makes it all the better and for those on their first visit here they make sure that you enjoy it and want to come back.
The resort is clean, the food is great, I'm not sure about all the people that complain about the food being blah or not good enough...do they have to be reminded that they are not home in Canada/England and that this is their way of cooking, that this is not a rich country. People work for under $50/month...what do you expect? Talk to the people and see what their lives are all about, how little they see their families and learn about the Cuban way.
The disco starts a little late at night and seeing as this is a resort that is not near any other location they do need to start the evening a little earlier to keep the crowds up and lively.
Entertainment staff work very hard. Start at 9am and some go until 1am, this is after talking the staff bus over an hour each way to get to the resort and do this 6 days a week.
Alfonso and the group at the front desk are very friendly and Alfonso is a super man. I can't wait to see his friendly smile in a few weeks.
The rooms are clean and the chamber maids do a great job making sure that you have all that you need.
The scooter tours are great and the price is reasonable for the amount of education and fun that you have with Adrian and the rest.
Yoel (Wacho) in the dinning room with his smile and folding of fancy napkins makes you look forward to getting out of the sun and into the restaurant for a bit to eat.
I highly recommend this resort.
