Just returned from the El Senador resort in Cayo Coco. I have been there before so this will be an updated report.
We flew Cubana and the flight was on time. My only complaint with the airline was that we had a stopover in Holguin both ways. The seats were comfortable, the meals were airplane food, and the movies were good.
We arrived after a Tropical Storm had moved through the previous week so there were a few lingering clouds but the sun was shining. Airport security and baggage retrieval was very quick and easy. We were less than one hour from landing to getting to the resort.
Upon arriving at the resort we checked in which was a simple process and received bracelets for the first time. Our room was on the Emperador side of the resort (there is the Laguna side as well). We were in a junior suite which was clean and spacious. I personally like the regular club rooms better but if you are travelling with a family it is nice to have the extra space.
We tried every restaurant and everything was great. For people who complain about the food, you shouldn't leave home. No one should starve here. My favourite was the Cuban restaurant and the Italian.
The beaches are still exemplary. We sat there as much as we could before the heat became too much. The pools are really nice except that the Laguna side pool bar was not open which was a disappointment. The Emperador side pool bar was though.
My only complaint about the vacation was that it advertises 24 hours and there was nowhere to get food after 10:00 pm. This is the first time for us out of 8 vacations. It is a little disappointing after returning from a day trip and you are unable to get food and you are starving. We would often order pizza ahead and keep in the refridgerator to eat later at night.
The people are wonderful, the place is clean and the food was great. I was sad to leave as always and will return in the future.
