Sandals Royal Hicacos 12/16/2006
Reviewers Rating: Excellent
Hotel: while the hotel itself is average, the cleanliness and responsiveness of staff make it of 4* quality. The grounds are immaculate, flowers are some of the most beautiful I've ever seen, and the pool is spectacular. I've searched for a grain of sand at the bottom of the pools, and didn't find anything...So clean, I actually swam in the pool a few times (I hardly ever leave the beach). No kids - adults only - I must say it was nice.... Food: For Cuba, it doesn't get any better. The filet mignon was better than what they serve you at the KEG. My only complaint would be for the fruit, as it was off season, and the fruit wasn't the greatest. The buffet restaurant was under construction, so all dinners were served a la carte in: Italian, Seafood, Grille and El Caribe. My favourite were Seafood and Italian. Feel free to double up on the shrimp (for example) as the one serving is quite small *6 shrimp*. They really do not mind and will go out of their way to please the customer. The drinks are good, especially if you stick to Cuban favorites, such as the Mojito and Cubata. Mmmmmmm.... Staff: Left me speachless. Fluent in English, although I tried so hard, and got praised for talking back to them in Spanish :) They are all very knowledgeable about what they're serving you, pairing it with a good wine (yes, the wines were good!!!), white glove service, and extremely attentive. Not once did I have to ask for an additional glass of wine, they followed every sip we took...The staff was by far the best I've ever met. Truly wonderful. Beach: Gorgeous. White sand, blue/turquoise water. Beach bar service - a waiter would take your order while you tan, and bring you a drink. Plenty of loungers available, and the Jorge(s) would always bring them out for you and ensure that they're clean. Plenty of water activities, including a water trampoline, now THIS was awesome!!! Spa: wonderful!!!! Great massages and salt glow scrub...Ahhhh.. We were on our honeymoon, ages 26 & 29, and had an amazing time...If I go back to Cuba, this will be the place I return to...It was perfect...
