Reviewers Rating: Excellent
My husband and I returned last Friday,Feb.20 from this great resort. It was a last minute booking,as I booked on Jan.29,and we left on Feb.6.Our booking was with Air Canada Vacations through one of the discount web sites. Departure: After a two hour delay due to the weather,we left Toronto at 5:30PM.The plane was about 3/4 full so we had an empty seat between us.(Great!).We were promptly served dinner and a free drink to compensate for the late departure. The flight was fairly smooth. We arrived at 8:45 and were through customs and on the bus(Air Canada Vacations)promptly. Arrival: It was dark when we arrived at the resort,as had made a few stops at other resorts, but as we had seen this resort when we stayed at Iberostar Daquiri,we were not disappointed. As I am unable to walk long distances and use a cane, they put us in one of the Villas that was central to the main building, buffet, ocean, and pool. Room: Our room was on the main floor,Room#74,and was large with 2-3/4 beds,2 easy chairs and table, fridge, large closet, and a vanity and stool. The bathroom had the ususal features,a bidet and shower only.It was great and had lots of hot water. The room safe was free also.We had a walkout to our patio, which overlooked the ocean,Beach Restaurant and grounds. We loved it and spent many many pleasant hours there. Food: There was a large variety of food at the El Eden Buffet and we were more than satisfied with the selections at each meal. Some of our favourites were the fresh squeezed orange juice, ice cream and the assorted fish.(I felt I could swim back to Canada as had some nearly every day).We had many lunches at the Beach Restaurant, but did not try the Internationalor Cuban Restaurants. Our waitresses were very pleasant and we tipped many times for their good service and pleasant manner. Beach: I don't think any beach is as nice as this one.We have been at Veradero twice,Holguin twice, and last year at Daquiri but this beach was like powdered sugar and the water was very warm. They do need more palapas though,as there are very few available.Towels were free and could be exchanged daily. Pool: We spent a lot of time around the pool and enjoyed all that went on there.Lots of lounges available, and many activities close by. Animation and Entertainment: This resort has some of the most talented people we have seen in our travels.Daily they are kept busy running the many events and always had a smile and pleasant remark for all.The evening entertainment excelled, and had many different shows from Comedy,Disco,Pop,Classical,Music,as well as Audience Participation Evenings. The costumes were beautiful and colourful. General Comments: All though rated as a 3 1/2 or 4 star, depending on the tour operator,I would say this was one of the most friendly resorts we have visited. The Cuban people are warm and welcome you every time we have visited their beautiful island. We will return!!
