Spanish Bay Reef Resort 11/15/01

We just got back from one of the most enjoyable vacations ever. The Cayman Islands are absolutely beautiful. We stayed at the Spanish Bay Reef Resort and discovered a wonderful all-inclusive vacation spot. It was nice to be able to drive a short distance to so many other wonderful spots on the Island, but it was even nicer to come back to the Spanish Bay Reef each evening....away from all the hustle and bustle. The food was wonderful...tasty and plentiful. The rooms were okay, nothing spectacular, but clean. (Next time we will know to upgrade to an ocean view villa.) The grounds were neat and well maintained. The service was outstanding. And Joy, the daytime bartender was just that......a real joy to sit and talk to! She alone made being at the Spanish Bay Reef most enjoyable. Always smiling and chatting with everyone. And she just celebrated 10 years at the resort! We can understand why they keep her around! (As for the evening bartender, Patrick, he was the total opposite....unfriendly and acted as though it was a chore to wait on you - could it be because his little girlfriend sat at the end of the bar all evening keeping her eye on him?!? Hmmm.) All in all we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Spanish Bay Reef Resort and hope to make it back again next year. Anyone who is looking for a nice, comfortable and totally relaxing atmosphere with plenty of good food and drinks...the Spanish Bay Reef is the place to stay!(Review originally submitted on April 17, 2001)
