Castaways Beach Hotel 7/22/00
Reviewers Rating: Good Stayed at Castaways for a week in June, 2000. This is an older beach resort that is comfortable, clean, with great food. The staff is very helpful, family owned, casual. Rooms are average, small bathrooms, nothing fancy but it works if you're not expecting a Hilton or Hyatt. One whole wall overlooking the beach is screened, small balonies provide a place to sit and read in the shade. The beach is palm covered, black sand. Nice to swim, drops off gradually, no big waves. Dive shop very hospitable, staff wonderful, great boat diving here along the lee shore. They will arrange island hikes and tours to attractions; see waterfalls, lakes, the capitol city of Roseau and the northern end with Ft. Shirley. Great destination for those wanting an outdoor adventure experience, not pools and 5 star hotels. Roads very narrow and twisted, leave the driving to the guide. Wonderful rainforest experiences at Emerald Pool and Trafalgar Falls.
