Hotel & Resort Reviews:
Dominica
Evergreen Hotel 12/04/01
Reviewers Rating: Excellent
I have stayed at the Evergreen probably 30 times during my various stays in Dominica. While the Fort Young is more luxurious, and the Garraway is more central, I will always return to teh Evergreen. I stayed there many, many times prior to the absolulte devastation of Hurricane Lenny in '99, and it was the most relaxing, pleasant place on the west coast. The staff is personal, making sure to get to know you and understand what you are looking for. The food is like eating at someone's home - the kitchen staff treat you like a friend, accomdating your desires for local food. The rooms are small but well appointed, but the bar deck is where you will spend all your time - quiet sounds of waves without the loud Roseau music and annoying approached of the various dealmakers and politicos you'll be invaded by at the Fort Young. Definitely go there, and you'll come to understand a little of the wonder Dominica has to offer.
