Riu Bambu 1/13/00

We went to this hotel last March 99 when it was only 3 months old. So our vacation guide didn't know a thing about it except where it was located on the island. Well, WHOA!!! It was incredible. It was more than pleasing to the eyes, it was lavish and huge and expansive and clean with marble everything and smiling faces everywhere and flowers and, and, and. I could go on forever. Our room was perfect. THere were three of us and they gave us a room with two double beds ( joined together, a little weird) and they brought in a cot for the third person. The beach was gorgeous....very private, we sunned without tops (hee hee)no one bothered us. You could walk down ther beach and buy stuff from the locals (antyhing from larimar turtles to large paintings). The nigth life was ok....there was only one bar (Pacha) and they boys don't ask the girls to dance too much. They sort of have their own crowds there and stick to them. We were right next door to a bigger hotel (and nicer) which had a casino inside, not very impressive though. Spanish is mainly spoken in Riu Bambu, but everyone is so nice. The tourists are ALL GERMAN, I guess because they get 6 weeks of vacation every year! The pools there are incredible and there is always something going on pool side (dance lessons) or at one end of the pool (water areobics).
