Reviewers Rating: Good The Iberostar resorts in Punta Cana(3-in-1) are beautifully maintained with immaculate landscaped grounds and a spacious stretch of white-sand beach. The room itself needed a little TLC, but other than that the facilities were top-notch. The food was basically good (not great) with a large variety in both the a la carte restaurants and enormous buffets for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Unfortunately there is not much available to those who crave a late-night snack. The nightlife was limited to the variety shows they put on, followed by dancing in the nearby disco (drinks are not included in the disco). Speaking of drinks, there is much room for improvement here! If you envision yourself sipping frozen cocktails by the poolside, be prepared for the reality - a hike to the nearest bar, and a cool (if not warm) beverage served in an 8-oz cup. There is an extensive 'drink menu', but after three days of experimenting I'm still not quite sure what I was getting with each order. Beer drinkers seemed satisfied with El Presidente, the local beer, and if you stick to straight liquor you can avoid all the sweet concoctions. There is a small casino staffed with inexperienced dealers (they just opened a few weeks earlier), so consider gambling here more of a diversion than a purpose.If you are looking for a new destination to visit that offers the best in beaches, weather, friendliness, and value, this is a good place to consider. If you are expecting to be pampered and used to first-class accommodations, this is probably not the place for you. The best advice I can offer is to see it for yourself.
