Hotel Reviews:
Dominican Republic
Casa Marina Reef 6/30/00
Reviewers Rating: Great My 13yr old daughter and I were in search of a well needed holiday. I was a bit apprehensive about travelling alone with her to a caribbean island, I needn't have worried. The Hotel was fabulous, the entertainment second to none. All the young people were highly motivated and worked extremely hard to ensure all guests had a top time whilst staying at the Casa Marina. The beach was idylic, the water glorious. Before departing I had been told by a couple of friends that I should have booked in the South of the island as opposed to the North, not true - the weather was fabulous (we went mid April). The food at the hotel catered for all and was of a high standard. The plumbing worked! Our room was comfortable and adequate. The people were extremely friendly. The language is Spanish and also the feel for the island is definitely Spanish. We went out to the local market during the day and felt safe, although you do get spoken to quite frequently by young chaps when you have a 13yr old daughter, but this was not a problem. We didn't venture out alone in the evening as I didn't feel it was necessary or advisable not being familiar with where I was walking (something I don't do at home either!). We went w.water rafting which was excellent and well worth doing, also we went out for the day on a catamaran again, worth doing (plenty of sun protection), not loads of other things to see but this holiday met our needs and we wouldn't hesitate returning. We travelled with Britannia and the flights were v.good. and seats roomy.
