Hotel Reviews: Dominican Republic
Playa Naco Golf & Tennis Resort 01/03/01
Reviewers Rating: Excellent
Hola!! I stayed at the Playa Naco resort on the North Coast from December 14th to 28th, 2000 with my husband & mother-in-law. If I could go again tomorrow, I would! We had such a wonderful time, the resort is billed as a 3 1/2 stars, but I think it deserved much more. The staff was wonderful, especially the "Coffee Friends", our nightly entertainment. The weather was wonderful, it only rained one day in two weeks. Trust me, you were looking for the clouds for some shade from the hot sun! The food was acceptable, buffet and 3 a-la carte restaurants. You'll never go hungry or thirsty while on your vacation! We met so many wonderful friends, and have brought back so many wonderful memories with us. The waves on our side of the island were perfect for boogie-boarding, and the ocean was much warmer than the resort swimming pool. We always spent the morning & part afternoon on the beach, (beach bar & food right on the beach), and spent the afternoon at the pool wher! e there were pool games everyday at 3:30. At 6:30 we would eat dinner, watch the entertainment, and then go to the discos when our resort bar closed (12 a.m.). Playa Naco has one disco, Tops, but it wasn't very good - go for your free drinks, dance a bit, then head down to Crazy Moon - lots of Dominican locals, lots of rum, lots of fun! The beach vendors weren't as agressive as people say, just say "no gracias", and they'll leave you alone. But I did buy all my souvenirs from them, because they're the ones walking up and down the beach all day, in jeans, no less! There is a mall in the Playa Dorada complex, but I found you couldn't really barter with them. With the beach vendors, you can. So all in all, we had a great two weeks, we were even delayed 36 hours and put up in the Occidental Playa Dorada for two nights, but we kept sneaking back into Playa Naco to spend time with our friends. If you go to Playa Naco, tell Jose the bartender that "mi amore" says hello! And ! have fun!! Any questions, just e-mail me.

Michelle
