Barcelo Bavaro Palace 11/14/01

We just returned from our 4 night vacation and it was just great! The Palace was a very nice hotel - the rooms were spacious with a nice bathroom and a good shower. The pool area was very nice and clean and the beach had plenty of chairs in both sun and shade. We found the employees at the resort friendly, however they do not speak much English so brush up on your Spanish before you go. There are a lot of restaurants to choose from if you stay at the Palace. We liked La Brisa for seafood, the buffet for breakfast and El Pina on the beach at the end of the resort for lunch. We also liked the mexican restaurant at the Beach hotel for dinner but the steak house there was no good. The food was not the best part of the trip, but it could have been worse. If you are going to play golf, you should know that to get a tee time you have to be at the golf shop around 6:30am the day before you want to play. You cannot call ahead. There are a couple of courses on the island that you! can pay to play that were nice. The casino is very small and has roulette, black jack, poker, video poker and slots. There is a tram to take you to each hotel in the complex and also to the small shopping center and disco. The whole place was beautiful and overall we had a great time. I would recommend the Palace over the other hotels for the restaurant variety, but all seemed very nice and clean. (This review was originally submitted on March 6, 2001)
