Great
We just returned, and overall the resort is very nice. (We have been to other all-inclusive resorts in the Carribean, so we can compare.)The food was excellent, the staff was VERY friendly and helpful, and the beach is just beautiful and kept extremely clean. Having said that, if you want a vacation with lots of peace and quiet, don't go here. Unlike other resorts which hold their nightly entertainment away from the guest rooms, Paradise Resort holds their incredibly LOUD nightly shows at the pool area, which is surrounded by guest rooms. In other words, if you want to turn in early some night and your room is anywhere near the pool, forget it. We couldn't even hear the TV in our own room until the shows ended each night at around 11:00pm. The people in the room next to us left after two nights and went to another resort because it was so loud. The locals clearly try very hard to put together the nightly shows, but they are still kind of cheesy, and sometimes not for children (one night the girls on the stage were lifting their shirts and exposing themselves). The band that played every night was really good, though.
Also, a group of college kids visiting made an unbeleivable amount of noise the last two nights we were there (they were climbing on the roofs of the buildings and SCREAMING obcenities throughout the night). Surely they were drunk, and kids will be kids, but many of the guests couldn't sleep, and most (including us) were more upset that the staff did nothing to stop them.
And as long as I'm now sounding like a big complainer, I'll mention one more thing. If you're not a smoker, plan on breathing in lots of second-hand smoke, even outside. Lots of smokers seem to be attracted to these resorts.
In conclusion, I know this all makes me sound like an ornery complainer - I'm not. Overall we really liked the resort, and we would definitely recommend it and go again. I mention the above only to pass along some info to help in decision-making.
