My husband and I returned form the DR on 3/1. We went for 4 nigths flying out of Philadelphia thru Apple Vacations.We have to say we had a very nice time. The beach and grounds were beautiful, the rooms ok, and the food good.
Check in isn't until 3pm but if you get there early you can get lunch and walk the grounds. We had a room by 2pm and this was the only short coming. It was in section 3 and was right in front of the theater. They offered to move us the next day but after napping and settling in we decided to stay put and make the best of it. If you want to watch the show , these were the best seats to watch from and we still had a nice view of the beach. The rooms have two double beds, no kings available, and a mini fridge that was stock daily with beer, soda and water. If you needed extra water during the day at the beach you could get it in bottles at the bars. If you can try to get in section 6 which has great views of the pool(beatiful) and beach.
The restuarants were good, we ate at the buffet one night and the speciality restaurants the other. I liked the Italian the best, I had a filet migon in marsala sauce that was cooked perfect. The only one I didn't meal I didn't care for was at the Caribbeanian Restaurant, I had a seafood dish that had good flavor but was over cooked. My husband didn't like the outdoor grill "Marlin" as it was buffet style and the regular buffet had a better selection. Now my husband and I can be a little picky about food since we are both Chefs at an Atlantic City Casino, but we enjoy trying different cuisine, and thought the food was overall was good.
The staff was friendly and communicating was not that difficult. My husband speaks some spanish and we got by fine.
The beach was great. There were always seats avaiable, but to get a beach hut you did have to get there early. No problem just get your spot have breakfast, return and enjoy. We didn't do any tours since we weren't there long but there was a lot of activities there. They also had huts on the beach were you could get massages and this was great!!
All in all we had a great time our only regret was not staying longer but we will go back and stay longer next time.
