Good
After coming back from the Bahia Principe on Monday morning, I thought I give you my opinion on the resort.Resort:
The resort is very beautiful, lots of palm trees on and around the property. One of the nicest resorts I have been to.
The rooms were nice and roomy and they even had satelite tv so that we could watch the news in the morning in our native language.
Rooms were cleaned every day to our satisfaction and towels and beach chairs were readily available.
It was a pleasure walking through the greens inside the resort.
Food:
The food was so so. Very bland. Not one gram of salt or spiece on anything. We did not bother eating lunch since we still had enough from the breakfast which was every day the same.
Dinner was also not very inviting.
I had actually two times that I tried to take food but the foul smell of it made me put it back and not eat anything at all. Most of the times I had only pineapple.
I was surprised of the quality of the food because the place was full of tourists from Europe (Germans, UK, Italy) These are countries who usually have very good and well prepared foods.
Beach:
Was ok, even we were told it is just man made on an old swamp.
Was clean but not outstanding. Have seen better beaches.
Pools:
The property had 2 huge pools and one small one for water basketball.
All seemed pretty clean and enjoyable.
Drinks:
Drinks? Which drinks? All they had were slushies. Everything was pre-mixed and came out of slushie machined like the ones they use here in Canada. But these were supposed to be drinks....
Big minus here especially since there was not even wine with the dinner.
Staff:
Grrrr. What is it with these people? Are they all pissed because we enjoyed our vacation and they had to work? I never seen attitude like this anywhere else. No matter what you asked them, they always shrugg their shoulders.
On the first night, we asked some of the staff members where the american restaurant would be located because this was the only place open after 11. They had no clue.
On our second last day we realized that from all the wind surfing we kind of got burned and were laying on the beach with our shirts on. As the day progressed and the heat was just unbearable, we wanted to take a swim in the pool (not the salty ocean because of our red skin)
We changed into clean, plain white T-shirts but a security guard with his stick!!!!! told us to leave the pool right away. My husband tried to explain our situation but we were only waived off.
Now tell me, do I (a regular woman in her 40s be watched by a security guard when I take a swim?)
I had my country which was under communist rules for the freedom of Canada. But seeing this, I wonder why people complain when going to Cuba and see some policemen there.
Same thing.
I can not understand the T-Shirt issue since in Mexico (Reef Club Cozumel) they even told us to put on a shirt since the sun was just barbaric shining down on the pool.
My husband is very light and blond and burns very easily. They even told little kids!!! to get out of the pool because their mothers cared enough and put them T-Shirts on to proctect them from the blasting sun. In the end, I could not swim for 2 days. Even after we speaking to the main desk, they told us there is nothing we can do.
Entertainment:
Entertainment seemed every night the same. Kind of musical style.
Had seen way better efforts in other resorts.
Would I return?
Nope! For the money I spent and the sour faces to watch all week, I have some better use for my hard earned dollar.
Especially since we were there for Easter and the complex filled up wiht locals. They got all over the better treatment. Standing in line for the exchange of our beach towels, the stuff took first the locals behind us and chattet with them endlessly while we were waiting and just shook our heads.
