We spent a week at the Dominicana in July 2002. We were married there and truly had a wonderful time.Check in was quick. There were many staff members who spoke very good English, so communication was never a problem. Our room was in the center of the property, halfway between the lobby/restaurants and pool/beach. The room was roomy and nicely decorated. There was a refigerator that was kept stocked with bottled water, mineral water, soda and beer. I left a note for the maid when we wanted more bottled water, and she always supplied it.
The beach is beyond belief. There are many palapas to lounge under and get some shade. The water is clear and beautiful, although the current is a bit rough at times. You can do alittle snorkeling right in front of the resort. Bring a little bit of bread into the water and a school of silvery fish will surround you within minutes. The sand is soft and white and the beach goes on for miles.
We ate at the Mexican and gourmet restaurant in addition to the buffet. Make reservations for the ala carte restaurants as soon as possible. They book up quicky and the buffet can get a bit tiring. My favorite meal was the Mexican. The appetizer buffet is yummy and will leave you stuffed before your entee arrives. Make sure you try the ice cream on the beach...AWESOME!!!!
The staff was extremely friendly and constantly trying to make your trip special. I would definitely recommend the Dominicana.
