Dominican Republic Hotel, Resort & Villa Reviews
Super Club Breezes Punta Cana 03/24/2003
Reviewers Rating: Excellent
Breezes Super Club – Punta Cana Feb. 21/03 to Mar. 7/03
We traveled from Montreal Canada on Air Transat and arrived at the hotel at 01:30 in the morning. Registration sheet only needed basic information and within 15 minutes our group of 4 couples were on our way to the rooms. As requested we were all located in the same building on the 3rd and 4th floors.
The rooms are a bit small however the were always well maintained. A bathroom with face cloths, Kleenex, shampoo, soap and hair dryer supplied. The safe also supplied free of charge and the TV (Dish Network) had the most English stations I have seen in the Caribbean. Balcony had two chairs and one table and mini fridge stocked with water and soft drinks daily.
The restaurants (Italian, French, Mexican, Japanese, Steak) were all good and our favorite was the French with the fabulous filet mignon steak followed by the Italian. The main buffet was also very good with a large selection, enough to satisfy most people. Wine was always plentiful and both white and red quite good. For lunch the grill (by the pool) and the fruit bar (by the Mexican) were good and had steaks, burgers, pizza etc and the main buffet was also very good.
The bars (2 at each end the beach and 2 on either side of the reception) were all well stoked and waiting time was always at a minimum. All bars had available (no charge) premium brand liquors such as Tanqueray gin, Absolut vodka, Johnny Walker scotch, Baileys, Kahlua, Amaretto and excellent Presidente and Corona beer. Many other premium brands were available, just to many to list, and just about any special drinks were also available.
The beach was the nicest I have ever seen with crystal clean water and white sand. There are only 2 hotels (Grand Paradise & Breezes) on this section of the beach and during our stay there was always plenty of chairs available. Non-motorized activities plus the banana are free of charge and can be used as many times as wanted. The pool is quite spectacular and very large however it is always very busy. By 09:00am it is sometimes difficult to get a lounger, no problem with us since we are beach people.
The activities done were horseback riding and 4 wheelers (ATV), which were interesting and fun. We have been to Punta Cana many times over the years and have done most of the other traditional treks so we limited ourselves to the 2 above on this trip. The hotel also has a good size casino and a disco.
All in our group agree that this is the best trip ever and the Breezes is a bit better than the Iberostar Dominicana and the Riu Bambu. Once the renovations are finished the Breezes will be rated a good 4½ to 5 star hotel. The only difference will be that the rooms are smaller but for everything else they will be a definite contender. Assuming that the prices don’t increase too much we are all planning in returning to Breezes in 2003/2004 season. Denis
