Gran Ventana Beach Resort 01/22/2005

Booked 3 days in advance and went with 3 other couples. What a great time we had. Left Winnipeg on time and arrived in Puerto Plata. Was received at the airport by our Signature Rep. Bus took us to our resort and check in was a breeze. It took all of 20 minutes to get registered and our bags were in our room. We stayed by the quiet pool and the other 3 couples were at the other end of the resort. We absolutely loved the resort and the cleanliness of the rooms and the resort itself. Bed was very comfortable and the fridge was always well stocked every day. I brought many toileteries for the maids and the service was incredible every day. The food at the main buffet was superb. If you plan on watching your weight while at this resort, forget it. The food was so good we often went back for more. There were 2 evenings for supper that we had all the lobster you could eat. We really pigged out on this. This was our 4th time in the Dominican and our 2nd time in Puerto Plata. This resort was by far the best we have had. Will for sure return in the future.
We did one excursion while there. We went to Water World. We had and encounter with the dophins and the sea lions. Was not disappointed at all. The weather was not the best this day, but still had a great time. Hired a taxi through our Signature Rep at the resort and went to the town of Puerto Plata for the day. The driver took us to the rum factory, cigar factory, local super market and a grocery store. The total cost was $35.00 US for all 4 couples. Less than $10.00 each couple. We also paid only on return to the resort. Would give this resort a 5 star rating.
