Iberostar Costa Dorada All-Inclusive

Wow! We had a 2 week honeymoon here, and it is easy to see why this hotel has been awarded top prizes from every tour operator who goes there. It is fantastic in every way possible - they even manage to make mashed potato look like a gourmet dish! The staff are really helpful and always smiling, the food is top notch (if you dont like your meat red though you will need to ask for it to be cooked well - most of the time the food is cooked in front of you so this isn't a problem), and the pool is just the right size. The beach is a paradise, and whilst there is seaweed, there are 3 men constantly cleaning the surf line. In 2 weeks we didn't have cause to complain or grumble about a single thing (except for a nasty insect bite, but the hotel can hardly be held responsible!), and din't come across a single person who had a bad thing to say about the place. It is a little pricier than the other hotels in this area, but the quality is way above what we had expected and way above the levels of neighbouring hotels from the conversations we had with fellow travellers on the return flight. The hotel guests are a very even mix of young and old, couples and families, and all nationalities. Virtually all staff speak passable English (most to a very good standard), and they run a complete entertainments programme including Spanish lessons if you want. Look out for Dominican Day, when local traders set up a marketplace in the hotel grounds. The stuff is really nice, but haggle hard on the price, as the hotel shop sells most of the stuff quite cheaply anyway!
