Dominican Republic Hotel, Resort & Villa Reviews Reviews
Sirenis Tropical Suites 05/06/2004
Reviewers Rating: Excellent
I stayed at the Sirenis Tropical Suites from April 14th to 18th. In general, I was very satisfied with this resort. It is very big, and you have lots of choices. Be warned that you'll have to walk a lot though. Our room was a suite, being on the Tropical side, but if I had been given the choice I would have preferred the Cocotal side as I've heard the room is larger. I saw no use for the small room beside the bedroom. We never used it. The bathroom was very nice. The beach was beautiful and large, the sand is golden, not white, and the ocean is turquoise. You can snorkel right in front of the resort.
There are two types of loungers on the beach. One is not adjustable and you can only lie on it. The other type was hardest to find, but when you want to read... Also it was difficult to find shady spots.
The pool is huge and very nice, but it was always crowded with kids, possibly because of the Easter vacation.
The food was average at the buffet, and a bit better at the a la carte restaurants. The good thing was that you could eat as many times you wanted there. There are 7 free restaurant, and 1 gourmet for which you have to pay. The service at the bars was a bit slow, except at the lobby where it was perfect. We had frozen drinks there and they were yummy and always well presented in real glasses. As for the nightly shows, I would have expected better for a 4 star hotel, but they were OK. The disco was great too, but the temperature inside was really too cold.
All in all, it was a very good hotel and I'm pretty sure I will return some day.

Emily
