Holiday Inn Sunspree 10/26/00
Reviewers Rating: Great Just returned from our 4 night trip and would say the Sunspree is a good value for the money. Our wedding party of 20 stayed there and overall had good things to say. Got off the bus and in line to register while others in our party got the bags and that worked well. Got checked in pretty fast, unlike the others behind us. Sister and I had to change our room cause it smelled really musty and didn't look terribly clean. No problem. Switched to a room overlooking the pool and beach area...GREAT for two single gals!!! Other sister and her husband arrived the next day and politely asked for a complimentary upgrade if available. She waited patiently and ended up in an ocean view!! She was delighted!! Lesson here is, it can't hurt to ask! Parents had some problems getting enough washclothes and housekeeping didn't seem to address the problem in a timely manner, but not many complaints. Food wasn't great...buffet was just okay. Breakfast the best. BTW, you can order breakfast via room service with AI...just the basics...very convenient and good! Restaurants were much better..make reservations early! Drinks were pretty good, but small. Ordered 2 or 3 at a time. Staff wasn't terribly attentive, but as advised, I took about $30 in $1's and tipped the bartender $1 every other time (we were at the bar ALOT!) and he became terribly attentive, ignoring others to wait on me. Beach isn't great..enough sand, but water is a little seaweedy, but plenty of clear space to wade around in. Pool's really nice. They provide beach towels, which was nice not to have to worry about taking along. Watersports were alot of fun...again, make reservations EARLY! Snorkeling fills up fast. Great reef snorkeling right off the resort, but they won't let you go on your own...have to take their boat, but since it's including in AI, go as often as you like. Entertainment was pretty good. Staff is very talented, but did lag at times in between "acts." Really was disappointed in Friday night show. Thursday was fabulous! Took the side trip to Dunn's River. A must!! Native Jamaicans are rude, pushing you aside to climb, but still great fun! Well worth the ride and the money. Would recommend the resort. Think I might want somewhere a little more elaborate if honeymooning, but great value for the money. Feel free to email me for pictures of the resort or questions...fool4lov@aol.com
