Firefly 05/14/01
Reviewers Rating: Great
Firefly! What a relaxing place! The staff were very friendly and accomadating.
The rooms were sparse but adequate...maid service daily...no air conditioning (didn't need it)in our second floor garden view room over looking the jacuzzi. The room did have a refrig and freezer which helped to ice down the Red Stripes. Yeah, we bought Stripes at the beach bar (44 J ea. That was $1 US), ported them to the refrig and kept replenishing as we consumed (mucho!) Brought insulated cups/mugs and a collapsable fabric cooler for the beer transport to and from the beach.
Firefly sits right on the Negril beach and all of 30 seconds from your room. Note this facility is nude friendly and thus many guests were in the buff. This may be one of the few resorts that is not an all-inclusive mega facility that is nude friendly.
We did not participate in breakfast except for the coffee (Nescafe) on the beach at the beach bar. Lunch & dinner is where you can get it...but that is easy. Local food abounds along the beach...and except for the occaisional vendor approaching you for trinkets, bracelets and weed, the beach is safe at night. Dr. Bills was great...Fresh Fish and pork...two dinners, 4 drinks $25. We also ate at the more commercialized Margarittivile (sp?). Good food, more americanized, but a little more money...$45. But here you can catch-up on your sports scores and see what Spring Break was like! Lunch at Niah's for the made-while-you-wait 'patties' was excellent...you have got to experience this whole event...$5 feeds two...not counting the cold, really cold, beer at the place next door! (Can you tell we like our beer cold!)
All in all, I would easily go back to Negril...and probably Firefly...but there are so many reasonable and quaint places to choose from!! It WILL be a hard decision.
