While this resort enjoyed a great reputation under the Ciboney name, it is very apparent that things have gone downhill since it was taken-over by Sandals last year. Although the staff was courteous and friendly, they were entirely undependable, especially the concierge and housekeeping. They repeatedly forgot to restock our 'fridge and leave complete sets of bath towels and beach towels. The brochure states "luxurious rooms" and "gourmet food", but this is not the case. Food was average at best, and lacked variety. We had to inspect 3 rooms before we found one that was acceptable (meaning nothing in it was broken, non-functioning or missing.) While the room was clean, it was worn and in need of maintenance. What really floored us was that literally every couple we talked to had been "bumped" from Sandals Mo Bay to BGS. Apparently this is a common practice with Sandals. That alone would prevent us from recommending any Sandals property. On the upside, the golf, drinks, beach, and pool were decent. Overall, Sandals/Beaches does not deliver what brochures promise. Spend your money elsewhere.
