Breezes Montego Bay 08/02/01
Reviewers Rating: Good
Kristy and I were married in Breezes Mobay. As for the wedding, it was great, They could use a prettier beach setting but wasn't so bad. There were quite a few weddings while we were there some wore tuxedos some wore more casual cloths. I opted for the latter.. I was a little nervous when the preacher told me to repeat after him hehe. You get used to the language but they do speak fast and softly. My best man, an employee (dwight) kept laughing softly.. finally after the wedding I asked him what was so funny.. and he told me there was an older lady taking pictures of the whole wedding with a disposable camera and she had it turned around backwards.. hehehe funny stuff :)

The resort, SMALL, great beach, view. The employees could stand a "happy" class or something there are only a few you ever see smiling (Phillipa, Dwight, Richard-Apple representive). The food at our resort was okay, not great.. there is a poolside grill that makes hamburgers and hotdogs all day long and Jerk beef and pork (I loved it.. kristy got sick of it after awhile) Jimmy's buffet (not mine) serves up lunch and supper some nights good food some nights not.. they could use a bigger selection. Martinos is really good italian food, but make reservations at the front desk in the morning.

Not many activities during the day.

4 bars???!! Yeah right.. there is one by the pool.. the others don't open till late at night.. the Pelican bar (karaoke) not many ppl there.. Hurricane Disco (dance) no one there. The grounds are kept up nice.. the resort IS pretty. If you're going, GET THE OCEANVIEW ROOM.. everthing else is S M A L L !!!!! you have a queen bed and about 2ft on either side and maybe 5ft at the end that's it.. The jacuzzi on the roof has a beautiful view the jacuzzi is HOT HOT!! I guess it's supposed to be that way but sure seemed too hot.. no problems mon.

We took a letter from our travel agent stating we were getting married and any upgrades would be appreciated, We asked (Alex) on the way to our room if we had gotten an oceanview room.. (nah mon we're all booked up. Dey take care of ya in odder weys".... uhhhmm.. never noticed anything "other ways".. oh well...

Be prepared to be offered Maryjuana atleast 50 times.. that's not a big deal, usually a simple "no thanks" works, some are a little more persistant.. the same goes for craft shops

Be prepared to pay at a minimum of $20US for a cab ride plus tip

Now don't get me wrong we a had a wonderful time..

the language is beautiful, takes a bit to get the hang of it.

If you go to Mobay.. Do yourself a favor and go to the craft market downtown, it's an EXPERIENCE with the locals!.. I think kristy liked it most.

The driving over there is hectic and that's putting it lightly, I found us cringing quite a few times saying "oh my god I can't believe we didn't hit that guy!" I would never try to rent a car down there.. NO WAY!! Breezes is located right next to the (hip strip) so there is PLENTY of shopping. Never ever accept the first offer or and sticker price.. if you don't like the price, put the item back down and inevitable there is a little lady right there saying "ow much ya give mi for dat?" the price negotiation is FUN FUN.

If you go to Breezes mobay.. stop down by the sports shack on the beech, on the back side is a guy named "Charlie" he makes little braclets with the jamaican colors and can put your name on.. he'll ask for $5 a piece but you can get him down to $3 :) he makes em quick.. He can get some "other" stuff.. for you to "party" with if you so desire hehe..

overall I give our a vacation a 7 out of 10

the resort a 5 out of 10... wouldn't go to that resort again.. I would save up more money and go to a nicer place.. maybe one of the sandals or Grand lido .

Jimmy and Kristy
