Sunset Beach Resort & Spa 02/08/02
Reviewers Rating: Great
Just returned today from SBR. We had a wonderful time. We thought that rooms were nice, clean and the beds comfy. We did not like the 1st room they gave us and we talked with Andre, the operations manager. He was most accomodating, he told us that he could move us the next day and he did. The new room had a glorious ocean view. The drinks we thought were good, we brought larger thermal cups from home which filled no problem. Less trips to the bar from the beach! The food was good, we always found something. Nothing to rave about even in the specialty restaurants but we found this to be true at the all inclusive in Mexico that we paid almost double last year. We just chalk it up to the fact that you are in another country, their food is different. If you are the prime steak & lobster type, all inclusive might not be the way to go! We did go out to dinner at Marguerites - fabulous food, beautiful ocean deck dining. There are small fish that feed there on bread the diners throw to them. There is also a 3+ foot barracuda that lives there and eats the little fish! We got to see him in action! We took a side trip to the Luminous Lagoon, the water has micro-organisms that make the water glow at night when disturbed. You could see fish and rays glowing under the water. Hard to explain, has to be seen to be appreciated! We have a great driver, Danny, who took us all over sightseeing. He was fantastic, took us up in the mountains to the Native Farm, a beautiful area of the mountains with a river and watefall. There is a deck there where you can order drinks & food. It is so peaceful. Anyone who needs a driver in Jamaica can E mail me, I'll give you Danny's cell phone#. All in all we had a great time at Sunset Beach. We enjoyed the beaches, especially the nude beach which was very private and secluded. Once you do the nude beach the others just don't cut it! We will be back!
