Sunset Beach 03/01/02

We stayed at Sunset beach for 4 nights Feb. 8-11. We were a little hesitant after reading some of the reviews,but the deal was too good to pass up. The place is great, it is not Sandals but it is a lot of fun. Our room had a great view(oceanfront)and was fairly clean but very outdated. The food was pretty good and always available. The resort had five bars and all were well staffed. The drinks were great(no top shelf).The staff was happy to fill what ever size cup you gave them.

The beach was decent,the snorkeling great. In previous reviews some people complained that the location was too isolated. In my opion that was the best part. The resort was truly hassle free,a rarity in Jamaica.

This is not a place for singles, most of the guests were couples or newly weds. Sunset Beach has a lot of repeat customers. My wife and I have traveled all over the caribbean and Mexico and have stayed at 5 star all inclusives and 2 star dives. Sunset beach is a great choice for couples that just want to hang out on a quiet beach and enjoy a great view while sipping a strong drink. We would go back.
