Sandals Royal Caribbean 03/17/02
Reviewers Rating: Excellent
We were looking for the perfect four-day getaway in February, and we found it at Sandals Royal Jamaican. I was skeptical that the Sandals brochures used such vivid colors, and thrilled to see that they were true-to-life! We stayed in a deluxe room (the least expensive) and found it to be ample with a king-sized bed and small sitting area. We were celebrating a 50th birthday, not a honeymoon, so our room was just fine. There seemed to be a good mix of all ages when we were there. The food was excellent on the whole (just had one so-so breakfast). Not having to get out a wallet for each meal and drink made the vacation really relaxing - also not needing to tip. The pools were clean and in great shape. Swimming in the pool on the Sandals Cay Island was fun - the nude beach there was worth a quick swing by just to see that not everyone has to be beautiful to show it all. Dinner at Bali Hai, the Thai restaurant on the island, was also fantastic. Make a reservation for Bali Hai the minute you arrive - you can't make them in advance through a travel agent. Riding over in a dragon-shaped boat gave just the right air of romanticism! The gift shop was on the high $ side, but we walked off the property to a little mall and got some good deals. Rum cream is a must! We met lots of people from Sandals Montego Bay - they came to Royal Caribbean for the atmosphere and the food. We felt no need to leave RC to see the other Sandals - plenty to do right there. We kept trying, but couldn't find anything to complain about. If you're looking for an escape to total indulgence, head to Sandals RC!
