Couples , Negril 04/07/02

We started our adventure Friday morning March 8 waiting to board our Air Jamaica flight 40 leaving Baltimore (BWI) airpot to (MBJ) Montego Bay. I must say I recomend anyone traveling to Jamaica to fly Air Jamaica the flight crew are very profesional and curteous they showed an onboard movie and served a great meal with complementary champayne, wine and red stripe beer. We arrived in Montego Bay 15 minutes early to beautiful 85 degree temp which was great. We walked upstairs to customs to a wonderful serenade of Jamaican woman singing Welcome to Jamaica. The wait to clear customs was about 25 minutes then we headed to claim our baggage and off to the Couples Resort airport booth to wait for our bus to the resort. The bus arrived sooner then I expected, my girlfriend and I with two other couples headed for The Resort. I have read many reveiws about the road to Negril and must tell you it is not as bad as people make it to be, with all of the scenery and small towns we passed the ride was bearable. It took exactly 2 hours to arrive at the resort and as we pulled up I knew we were in paradise. They greated us with smiles , champayne and cool towels took our bags and gave us a couple of papers to fill out. The first thing that caught my attention was the cleanliness of the intire resort it was as if the resort was brand new. After filling out the paperwork all of the couples that came with us on the bus hit the Beach Grill. They had lots of selections I had a jerk burger and french fries it was sooo gooood. We went back up to the open air lobby got our room and safe keys and Patrick helped us to our rooms. Our room was imaculate we had a beach view that was very cozy Patrick showed us around alittle and said enjoy your stay here at Couples. I could not wait to hit the water but before I got my swim trunks on we heard a knock at the door I opened it and we saw a bottle of champayne on ice with two chilled glasses a perfect little touch from the resort.... My girlfriend and I changed and headed for the very clean and beautiful white sand beach. To our surprise one of the other couples we met on the bus was already in the water. After our swim we ate(no need to worry there is so much expertly prepared food at Couples Negril you wont know were to begin) went to the romantic piano bar and walked around the grounds to site see, every thing was well maintained there are beautiful plants, fish ponds, cats and a beautiful peacock on the premisses. Everyone from the guy raking the seaweed up in the morning to waiters or bar tenders were eager to great and talk to you. I must say the whole time we were there every resort employee who passed us said hello or good-day or is there anything I can do for you this made us feel like royalty... All the employees make you feel at home and on vacation we literally did not have to lift a finger for anything... One more interesting part of our vacation was we left the resort and went to the Parish of Saint Elizabeth where my beautiful girlfriend was born, visited some of her family and ate some authentic Jamaican cusine. I do recomend anyone who wants a fulfilling experience of Jamaica to hire a taxi and bargain one flat rate to drive to other parts or Parishes of the Island....all in all Couples Negril was the perfect resort to relax and have fun or do what ever your heart desires and we have already planed our return for July 2002...
