Point Village 05/08/02
Reviewers Rating: Fair
Visited Point Village on my 2nd trip, after visiting the Riu, which was great.Ý The actual swimming beach is very small so it's crowded, the rest is too rocky, there are a lot of families, not a lot of singles, the rooms were just okay (we didn't even have screens so we had to keep the windows closed and buy mosquito candles!) and it's right next to Hedonism so if you have a problem with that, make sure your room isn't on that side.Ý The bathroom was not the greatest either and the room cleaning is not the best. The staff was virtually invisible except at the front desk and the one restaurant and the bartenders are stingy at the beach bar (it's all-inclusive, why should they be?).Ý No one ever asked if we were comfortable.Ý We had a run-down air conditioner that was so loud and barely worked.Ý And when we invited one of our Jamaican-native friends for dinner ONLY it cost $40 US!Ý The food is very basic and not worth that kind of money.Ý We ate a full-course meal at a small restaurant that was much better and cost only $10 per person. The "nightclub" is a small room of a cottage with few people and they don't do much to encourage guest participation. The only good thing is that it's been there for a while, so the foliage is beautiful.Ý Overall, I definitely would not return to the Point Village.
