FDR Pebbles 07/02/02
Reviewers Rating: Great
We just returned from our stay at FDR Pebbles. We had a wonderful stay! I must warn people about the airport in Montego Bay! They are definately on Jamaican Time (very slow...No problem mon!) and it is VERY HOT in there! The bus ride was okay, probably 35 minutes or so. No problem at check in. The grounds are lovely with lots of vegitation and pretty flowers. The rooms are cedar cabins and you can smell the cedar as soon as you walk in. They were not luxery accomadations, but they were okay, the kids liked it. I can't say enough about our Nanny, Lesa. She was not only there for our kids, she looked out for us as well. The only complaint I have about Pebbles is that the beach is very small with lots of rocks. While we were there it was so windy and rough that we could not snorkel or kayak. I wouldn't think the area would be great for that anyway. If you take off down the beach to the west, you can stroll for miles without seeing a soul! That was very enjoyable! Next door to the resort is a small shack that is a seafood restaraunt called "a place in time". This is where the bar scence from "How Stella Got Her Groove Back" was filmed. This little place is paradise!!! My husband had a fish dinner there that he just loved! Me and the kids played on the beach and built sand castles while he enjoyed his meal. The cook, Paratzi, was so friendly! She may be the owner, but I'm not sure. Even though this little place is not part of the resort.....that was worth the trip alone! We will definately visit Pebbles again and the Nanny's make it well worth the stay. The scuba instructors, Norman and Troy are great too! If you are looking for a great beach with good swimming and snorkeling though, this place is not right for you. That is the only reason I gave it 3 stars instead of 4. The Smith Family
