Sunset Beach Resort and Spa 07/20/02
Reviewers Rating: Excellent
Wow! It was the best vacation I ever had. (of course it was the only vacation I ever had) My sister, myself, my niece and my niece's best friend stayed at Sunset Beach from 7/11 - 7/16. We ranged in age from 18 to 36. Trust me, there was someone...oops I mean something for everyone. The place was beautiful. The food was great and the liquor flowed from 10am until 2am. Okay, let me get started. Our first day we arrived at 3pm. they were still getting our room together, so we got a drink and some lunch at the beach grill and did a little shopping at the craft fair that sets up on tues and thurs. The cook at the beach grill was a cutie. He was almost as hot as the jerk chicken. We got into our rooms and it was beautiful. We thought we would have a bayview but we had a ocean view on the 8th floor. We threw on our suits and went down to the beach. The beach was awesome. The water was calm and warm and the most beautiful shade of green. Then, my sister and I played an impromptu game of volleyball in the pool by the Inn with a couple of kids who were having a hard time getting the ball over the net. For dinner that night, the hotel set up a spread by the main pool. It was gorgeous and the food was SLAMMIN'. We sat and listened to the Elements (house band)but we were so exhausted from being up at 4am that we ended up going to bed at 10pm. The next day we were up at 5am. We walked around the grounds and got some coffee. We had some breakfast and then headed to the beach for some snorkeling. That was cool! I even found this purple fish who was actually playing with me. He would follow my hands. They had activities every day. (Beach volleyball, water aerobics, trivia games, drinking games by the pool, beach olympics. We basically spent our day around the resort. Snorkeling, Kyaking, paddle boats, etc. The question of the week was "What do you want to do next?" Saturday, was devoted to the swim-up bar. Check out Doug, Milton, Andre, Royando, Nick and Felicia. They will serve you up some of the best drinks you ever had. Watch out for the Flaming Bob Marley WHOA! After that I had to drink water for a while. Also, order a Blue Mother F_ _ _er(not for the faint of heart, and I swear that is the name of the drink) and a Doug Special Sunday, we went on the Funseeker Booze Cruise. That was soooo fun. They take you out on a speed boat right from the hotel beach out to a boat anchored off shore. They take you snorkeling (the most beautiful thing I ever saw, I swam through a school of yellow and black striped fish and saw purple, blue and multi-colored fish) Then they liquor you up and give you a foot massage (there is something to be said about sitting on a boat sipping a redstripe beer and having a cute guy massage your feet and legs...yeah baby!) Then, you get unlimited rides on the slide at Margaritaville (Mararitaville is overrated. Its expensive and looks just like TGI Friday's but on the water) That night we hung out at the pub and disco on the resort. Monday was again spent at the swim up bar. The staff was awesome and very attentive! My sister and I also went to the spa that morning. It was very relaxing. Tuesday, it was time to go home. At one point, I thought I was gonna cry, but I didn't. All in all, it was beautiful, the grounds were beautiful the food was tasty and the people were friendly. There was never a line for anything, there were always plenty of chairs and tables. The food was fabulous. Anyone who said they did not like the food must be closed minded, picky individuals. Try everything its free, if you don't like it don't eat anymore. The italian and chinese resturants were good. Our rooms were clean and everything was awsome. Oh, and ladies...the men that work there! I know why Stella got her groove back. It must be a requirement to be cute and flirty to work there. I'm already saving my money to go back in January. I may even go back by myself for maybe 3 or 4 days. If anyone has any questions please feel free to email me.
Liz
